Cost of IUI

Intrauterine Insemination or IUI is a procedure to help people who have been unsuccessful in becoming pregnant on their own. Cost of IUI is not only affordable, but one of the more cost effective treatments available on the market today.

What is IUI?

By threading a very thin flexible catheter through your cervix and injecting washed sperm directly into the uterus, your doctor can successfully perform the IUI. This process usually takes 2-3 minutes and is relatively painless.

If your cervix is hard to reach the doctor may have to use a tenaculum to hold the cervix. This can feel like a pinch and cause some discomfort.

Most women that have had this procedure done reported little discomfort and compared it to having a pap smear. There can be some cramping afterward which is usually due to ovulation and not so much from the IUI.

Cost of IUI

While having an IUI procedure may be more affordable, there is still a wide range of cost. Always ask your physician for a list of rates. The cost of just the IUI and sperm washing is usually $200-$300. However, if you need medication, ultrasounds, blood work or additional monitoring then the cost can go up to as much as $6000.00.

If you are interested in learning more about the cost of IUI, the tests involved, and whether it is the treatment for you, schedule an appointment with a fertility doctor in your area today.
