There are two main kinds of varicose vein treatment. The first kind, which is for smaller veins, is sclerotherapy. In the second kind of varicose vein treatment, which is for larger, more problematic veins, is laser therapy. This procedure involves laser light being specifically targeted at each vein, in turn stimulating the growth of new tissue and making the vein subside. Both procedures are performed in an outpatient area, such as the dermatologist's office, and the recovery time is minimal.
